Personal background-Emily Blincoe was born and raised in Austin, Texas. She currently lives part time in Nashville and part time in her hometown. Photography wasn't always her passion. She hated school, but continued on to become a preschool teacher. This job eventually became too much and she turned to waitressing. After ten years of this job, she wanted there to be ore to life than work. She decided to drop everything and dive into the world of photography.
Style-Emily Blincoe used a wide variety of color and patterns in her images. She Does this by using food, nature, and fabrics. She tells a story using the scenes and objects around her, conveying a peaceful image that is pleasing to the eye. Colours and patterns draw the viewer in to Emilys work. Her pictures are easy on the eyes yet exciting, colorful, and vibrant.
Philosophy-Emily Blincoe's images are a documentation of her travels and adventures. Her images are nature, food, and organization- orientated. She makes beautiful arrangements and captures them for visual pleasure and satisfaction. Some images are also puns, Such as her image "This and That". Most of her images tell a story, whereas some images are just fun to look at.
Influences-Emily Blincoe has inspired me to include more color and pattern diversity in my images. Her pictures have inspired me to include more beauty and structure when looking for something to take a picture of. My work has become more visually pleasing with influence of Blincoe's work. I include more natural light and scenic moments in my photography thats depicted in Emilys images.
Compare and Contrast-I have put my own personal spin on emilys images. They aren't exact, but they're similar and have very similar subject matter and beauty. They both include color, natural light, and variation in pattern and texture. My images are colorful and pleasing to look at like Emily's images. Both artists work are balanced and include the 10 rules of photography.
Personal Artist Statement I really enjoyed doing this project. I took the pictures separately and then edited them in photoshop. It took a long time as I had to be very accurate in order to make the pictures look like they were professional like Emilys . I enjoyed copying Emily's style, and playing around with my pictures photoshop. The images had to be edited as it began to snow as I was taking them, making them a little bit over exposed. In all, I am very happy with the way they turned out, as after the first one they got a lot easier. If I were to do it again, I would add a shadow to "pop of colour" to add more depth, although I like the way it looks without a shadow. In "Mac n cheese" I edited the cheese as I cut it myself and it wasn't perfect. I was very happy with the way that "chips" turned out, as they look very organized and visually pleasing. My images are up for interpretation, the meaning is what you believe, just like Emily's images. There can be multiple meanings which is what makes the images so unique and intriguing.
